Behind the Scenes: I wished I had asked Jon Voight for his daughter's phone number when I met him for this taping. He was in a good mood, as were both young Rick Schroder and Franco Zeffirelli. The occasion was the release of the film The Champ, which was directed by Franco and introduced us to Ricky. This is an example of three people on a show plugging a movie and the conversation that flows from that. There sure was plenty to talk about—'The Champ' being the remake of the noted Wallace Berry film, and Franco's recent staging of an opera for the Metropolitan Opera Company. I've used a still photo from this interview for years in my off Broadway play, TALK SHOW CONFIDENTIAL as part of the four minute montage song answering the question—'who's my favorite guest?'
