Historic Interview
with James Earl Ray –
Martin Luther King Jr.'s Assassin

Behind the Scenes:
In 1987 when I was executive producer of The Morton Downey, JR TV show, I received a letter from James Earl Ray, the jailed assasin of Dr. Martin Luther King. Ray and many fellow inmates were able to see the Downey show in jail. He wrote to me to see if he could be interviewed by Morton Downey to give his version of events and deny his role in the killing. Mort, producer Peter Goldsmith and I traveled to Brushy Mountain State Penitentary for this unique and historic interview. The last interview ever conducted with James Earl Ray.
