"FOLLOW YOUR PASSION."
That's a key message in Bill Boggs'
life.
Bill's passion for the "finer
things in life"--dining, travel, luxury resorts, the
lure of the road-- inspires his personal life and his
work. Actually, the two are quite intertwined.

Bill Boggs travels the world writng & shooting stories

Borgo Finocchieto, Tuscany 2011

Tuscany in July.

I stayed at the Borgo Finocchietoi. (See cover story "Travel & Leisure" July '11 issue.) This is part of the vista of one of the most peaceful and creatively restorative places I've yet to visit.

Florence on a summer Saturday has a superior one~day market of stalls. Shopping shots not included here.

The Borgo is located about 30 minutes southwest of Sienna. Here are two of the five buildings that have occupied the hill top for centuries.

The castle is still occupied..but the moat is filled in.

My fellow guests—we were a group of ten friends—poolside after lunch.

The vista on the patio just before cocktails.

The 50-meter pool has an unparalleled location.

Sit in this chair and the world you left behind will be in a newly clear perspective. I was truly happy and superbly relaxed during my week at Borgo Finocchieto. A one-of-a-kind destination.

| At one of my favorite hotels—David Geffen's Malibu Beach Inn. It's on Carbon Beach and is a chosen spot of mine on visits to Los Angeles. Excellent food with dining on the deck a must. FYI—if you're ordering fish ask for double portion. The fish entrees are unusually small. |

TIDBITS
Bill began his
focus on covering the world of food on "Midday" with
a series of restaurant roundtables where
guests had lunch on live TV while being interviewed. Bill is
credited with inventing the notion of interviewing people and
eating at the same time. Bill has interviewed many of the world's leading
chefs and restaurateurs.
So far Bill has taped two "Corner Table" shows
with "Fergie," one
of his favorite guests. Bill Cosby taped the
first "Corner
Table" show as a favor to Bill and his pals who own "Ennio & Michael" restaurant
in Greenwich Village. Friends Whoopi Goldberg and Matt
Lauer did the second and third shows to help Bill get started.
Bill went directly from covering a "Showtime" Mike
Tyson Heavyweight bout in Glasgow,
Scotland, to Venice, Italy, to report on the Orient
Express Train. That production ended in Paris with Bill
eating a chocolate eclair from Fouchon in
front of the Eiffel Tower.
Bill has been a friend of the Maccioni family
that operates Le Cirque and Circo for
twenty-five years, and his report on behind the scenes at Le Cirque 2000 was
the first ever backstage look at that exclusive space. Look
for coverage of the new Le Cirque here
on the site this spring.
In addition to his work covering chefs and restaurants. Bill is a certified "Master Wine Taster."
